I have had this blog for some time now. Most of the time, I like to collect and share meaningful and inspirational thoughts and quotes to share. Most of these quotes are inspiring to me at different points of my life.

Today, I have decided to take this blog one step further by designing my own quotes graphics and making up my own quotes. I shall also be writing inspirational poems. Yes, in order to reach my goals and my dreams of becoming a full time writer, I must let go of my old ways. I must learn new things in order to reach higher goals.

Today's quote is "Sometimes You Have To Let Go To Reach Higher Goals". In my quote graphic, I drew balloons in the sky. Just like balloons, you have to let go, in order to reach the skies. So just as the saying goes, you have to let go of old ways of doing things, learn new things, let go of old behaviors, learn better ones and let go of the past and look into the future in order to be successful and meet the goals you have set for yourself.

My goal is to write more inspirational poems by starting with the first step, writing inspirational quotes with a self-designed graphic. I'm loving it! I love this. I wonder why I didn't think of it before. I guess, I didn't learn to let go... till today.

I've read so many quotes I can now start writing my own. So here is one love quote just for Valentine's Day.

Just like the tortoises which I chose to represent this quote. Love that is slow is enduring like the tortoises. I like it that one tortoise appears to be protecting the other in the image. In love, we look out for each other and take care of each other when the rest of the world seems unkind. In love, it is wonderful to have a mate who will always be there for you.

I've got some leftover Chinese Fortune Cookies from Chinese New Year. I love serving them to my guests during Chinese New Year because the 'fortune' within are usually in the form of Quotes which make a nice ice-breaker conversation with my guests. After all, most of these guests only visit once a year! Sometimes, we need to warm up a bit to get the conversation started and a fortune cookie can do that very well indeed. I usually serve my guests some lunch, so the fortune cookies also double up as a snack while waiting for my lunch to be ready...


The Chinese Fortune cookies come individually wrapped up. Very nice.

It works for me every time especially at mealtimes when the kids take ages to eat. Instead of yelling at them, I would leave my seat after I have finished eating, sit myself promptly at the piano and start playing.

I get to practice piano, the house is filled with beautiful piano music, there is no yelling and no impatience.

Try this patience quote. It really works.... especially if you have to wait around impatiently for young kids!

Are you a procrastinator? Do you keep on procrastinating? Do you keep on putting off the things you need to do? Procrastination is a bad habit and it has a snowball effect. Very soon, you will start feeling overwhelmed especially if the thing you are procrastinating happens to be in your to do list.

I guess it all boils down to how much you want to do that something. I would never procrastinate when it comes to blogging. I walk around with ideas for blog posts in my head. As soon as I am able to get to a computer, my blog posts would all pour out from my head onto the keyboard and transferred on the computer screen.

However, when it comes to exercise, which is so much more important and should therefore be the top of my priorities, I keep on procrastinating. I guess to stop procrastinating, one has to prioritize, create schedules and follow it strictly. Self discipline is very important in order to carry this out.

Here are some procrastination quotes I want to remember to help me get out of this bad habit.

Today I added a Quotes Widget on this blog.

Bloggers who love quotes will love this one. It is a quotes widget for your blog or website. The above quote and image is an example of what you get in the quotes widget. There are plenty of sites offering free blogger or wordpress widgets with quotes for your blog but I like this one because it is colorful. Some of the sites offer text quote widgets. This one includes colorful images.

You can customize the widget by changing the size to fit your blog. Mine is 210 by 210. I guess I will keep this Quotes Widget for a while until I find something better.

Do you like my motivational poster? I created it from this website called Clip Your Photos. There are many Make Your Own Poster sites. I like this one because it is simple to use and does not require me to register. I am quite often lazy to register even for free because it will leave a trail of my email information all over the web for services which I may only use occasionally.

You can customize your Motivational Poster by putting in your own words as I did. You can choose the color and font type. Some Make your own motivational poster sites allow you to print your own customized motivational poster after you're done.

I just like to paste mine on my own blog because my digital camera isn't all that great and my image is a bit blur as you can see. It wouldn't make a nice motivational poster for hanging on the wall in my home though it looks lovely here on my blog and I do feel quite proud about it. Proud about selecting the right photo and proud about adding in the right words even if the words may sound a little bit cliched. I think the saying and the image is perfect. It looks great. Accept for the slightly blurry image. I have got a sharper image result in some other Create your own Motivational Poster sites but perhaps my picture is not clear enough to begin with.

There may be other Create Your Own Motivational Poster websites which offer much more customization and better photo results, but for me, this basic and simple one will do because I don't want to print it. I just want something quick and easy that will generate a code for me to copy and paste on my blog.

If I offer it to my house guest to drink from, I am sure my guest will be more interested in reading all the quotes than drinking the drink served. The other day I asked my kids, what is a friend? Here is what they said. I asked them to complete this sentence.

"A friend is someone who..........."

The 7 year old boy said:


A friend is someone who will pull you up, when you fall down.

The 9 year old girl said:

A friend is someone who will always laugh and chit chat with you.


That is very true isn't it? I don't think the boy meant to say it as a quote. He meant it literally, ie. when you fall down, your friend will pull you up but that is very true. A friend will always be there for you, to laugh at your silly jokes, be your companion and someone you can talk to and be there to pick you up when you fall. Friendship bracelets make the perfect gift for a dear friend.

Anyone, who has children should do this exercise. Ask them what they think a friend is. Next, I will ask my kids what they think love is. :)
