There is a lot of bullying going on in schools these days. My kids often come across classmates who take their stuff, ask them to do things, spread rumours and are generally not nice. I wonder why there are more and more kids behaving like that these days. Parents no time to teach? Sometimes, I think parents forget that they are their child's main educator and they are so busy earning a living to make a better life for the family, they forget this important role and leave it all to the teachers. Teachers can only do so much especially when they are teaching a big class.

Anyway, one day, a classmate asked my boy to carry his bag up the flight of stairs to their classroom as he usually does. My boy who usually does not mind  helping him was tired of being asked over and over again and finally one day he said this to the other boy.

I just attended the wake for one of my aunties so these words resonate and touched me. Here I would like to share it with a simple graphic. I chose daisies and a soft peach and yellow colored background for it.

I like to write all sorts of things. Inspirational quotes, non-fiction parenting books, poems, children's stories. Sometimes when I listen to nice instrumental music, I like to think of the lyrics that could go with it. Yes, I like to write lyrics to a song too. Here's one.

Sometimes life gets you down. Sometimes it throws you more lemons than you can catch. If you have been down that path before, you will know what I mean. Don't let yourself feel down. Just remember, that the more difficulties you have to go through in life, the stronger you get.

There were many times in my life when it rained. Sometimes it rained really hard... like the time when my son was in hospital and the doctor said he had an auto immune decease and at the same time, my daughter had a seizure at home.

My heart felt so heavy then. Like it was at the soles of my feet. So heavy.

However, we made it through the rain and I hope that if life throws us any more challenges we will continue to make it through the rain because sometimes the rain leaves a beautiful rainbow behind. Pin It

A new day brings with it new hope and new beginnings. If you feel unhappy today, you may wake up the next day feeling better. If you quarreled with your spouse today, you may wake up the next day and wonder what made you so angry in the first place. If you are displeased with your children today, you may wake up the next day loving them, just loving them.

Patience Is Doing Something Else While Waiting. How very true. I have two kids who take the longest time to finish their meals. Now, my ironing station is right beside the dining table. I have lots of ironing to do. So, these days, whenever I finish my meal, I would head over to the ironing board to press out some clothing.

In this way, I don't have to nag at the kids to finish their food. I can chat with them as they are eating and by the time is done, so are some of my clothes. I do this at mealtimes during lunch and dinner so I won't feel overwhelmed by all the ironing I have to do. It is spread out and at the same time, I am more patient with the kids over their tardiness during meals. :P

When life throws you lemons, what do you do? Do you rant and rave and get depressed? Well, its okay to rant and rave and get unhappy and sad for a while but we must learn to pick ourselves up and move on.

So next time when life throws lemons at you, why not make a glass of lemon juice, drink the bitter sweet taste and then move on? For life is like that. There will always be ups and downs. Enjoy your ups and don't dwell over the downs for it too shall pass. Pin It

Today, I'm going to move away from quotes and include some idioms in this blog. I have been teaching my children idioms, in Malay and Chinese recently. Idioms are fun. They are a good way to add some color to your language, just like quotes.

The idiom that comes to my mind today is "Add Insult To Injury" or "Rub Salt To Wound" or another idiom would be "To kick a man when he is down."

Why am I thinking of these idioms? My maid went back home during mid-contract and never returned. She is considered a runaway maid. I had to make a police report and had to pay a fine at the immigration when cancelling the work permit. That is certainly "adding insult to injury". Through no fault of mine, my maid did not return to work. I had to bear the expenses of renewing her work permit, passport and buy insurance and air tickets for her and in addition to that, I was fined. Pin It

I have had this blog for some time now. Most of the time, I like to collect and share meaningful and inspirational thoughts and quotes to share. Most of these quotes are inspiring to me at different points of my life.

Today, I have decided to take this blog one step further by designing my own quotes graphics and making up my own quotes. I shall also be writing inspirational poems. Yes, in order to reach my goals and my dreams of becoming a full time writer, I must let go of my old ways. I must learn new things in order to reach higher goals.

Today's quote is "Sometimes You Have To Let Go To Reach Higher Goals". In my quote graphic, I drew balloons in the sky. Just like balloons, you have to let go, in order to reach the skies. So just as the saying goes, you have to let go of old ways of doing things, learn new things, let go of old behaviors, learn better ones and let go of the past and look into the future in order to be successful and meet the goals you have set for yourself.

My goal is to write more inspirational poems by starting with the first step, writing inspirational quotes with a self-designed graphic. I'm loving it! I love this. I wonder why I didn't think of it before. I guess, I didn't learn to let go... till today.
